Magic Power Leveling Guide

This guide is fairly straight forward, it assumes you have a pure mage (ie. your magic stat is 10 or higher) and that you have around 200,000 gold to do a little shopping with - you're going to destroy (or at least ruin) most of these so at best you'll get merchant rates on them when/if you sell them back but taking this route will get you up to 39 in all magic really quickly.

What's the point of power levelling magics? Higher magics means more Character Level for that character, which gives them more hitpoints, allowing them to take more of a beating - magic clvls happen every 10 levels so if you can level them fast they are a quick & easy health boost.

If you actually want to use that character as a mage then increasing their magic levels means they can imbue totems much more easily and when imbuing staffs not only is it easier, you are more likely to get a higher number of charges.

The best items to use to level a mage are staffs, however a new mage simply doesn't have the skills to start imbuing staffs from the start, so we need to start them out on totems and just grind our way to some better levels.

Step 1 - Iron Totems Okay start by getting 15 Iron totems, they're reasonably cheap which is good because at the start you might break a few while trying to get your levels up. (Rika - I think it's 15, if not let me know)

Include a single totem and just use one type of magic repeatedly until you hit level 5 magic (120 XP), adding & removing totems as required - to maximize your XP gain over-imbue them until they explode.

Once you've hit level 5 on one magic, repeat for the next magic until all magics have been raised.

Hopefully all your magic skills should be at level 5, this means we can start work on staffs and not accidentally destroy them.

Step 2 - Pine Staffs Next we repeat this exercise with 9 pine staffs, using up one staff per magic. Ideally all your magics should now be level 9.

You should find that a single staff is enough to raise your magic 4 or 5 levels before it's destroyed.

Step 3 - Birch Staffs Repeat last step, this time using using up one birch staff per magic. Ideally this should take your magics to level 14.

Step 4 - Spruce Staffs Repeat last step, this time using using up one spruce staff per magic. Ideally this should take your magics to level 19.

Step 5 - Oak Staffs Repeat last step, this time using using up one oak staff per magic. Ideally this should take your magics to level 24.

Getting oaks can be a little tricky as they are special drops from either dragon realm bosses or possessed monsters. Try asking in one of the starting towns, or if that fails try the general chat channel as Oaks can have a tendency to pile up if a player doesn't use them.

Step 6 - Onyx Staffs Repeat last step, this time using using up one onyx staff per magic. Ideally this should take your magics to level 29.

Getting onyx can be more difficult and expensive than Oak as they only drop from revenants and storm creatures, try asking in general chat but be prepared to pay serious money for them.

We've now hit the limits of true power leveling and it's back to grinding through items until we hit the point where they stop giving XP.

There are now two different ways of making level 44 magic. One is quicker than the other, so lets start with the slow option. (The faster version is just down the page!)

Step 7 - Spruce Staffs (again) Switch to Spruce and keep imbuing these staffs until you reach level 29, at which point they stop giving XP.

Step 8 - Oak Staffs (again) Switch to Oak and keep imbuing these staffs until you reach level 34, at which point they stop giving XP.

Step 9 - Onyx Staffs (again) Switch to Onyx and keep imbuing these staffs until you reach level 39, at which point they stop giving XP.

Step 10 - Elm Staffs Switch to Elm staffs and keep imbuing these staffs until you reach level 44, at which point they stop giving XP.

Alternative Fast Magic Leveling Guide

This is a faster way to get to level 44 in all magics.

*Imbue Iron totems to level 2 *Imbue Pine Staffs to level 7 *Imbue Birch Staffs to level 12 *Imbue Spruce Staffs to level 17 *Imbue Oak Staffs to level 22 *Imbue Onyx Staffs to level 27 *Imbue Elm Staffs to level 35 *Imbue Onyx Staffs to level 39 (so save on elm as they now both give the same amount of exp) *Imbue Elm Staffs to level 44

Elm only starts to give 1 exp at level 35. At this point you should skill on onyx until 39 when it stops giving out exp. Then back to elm staffs

If you don't want to use elm that early, imbue onyx to level 30, the oak to 34 then back to onyx to 39 and continue with elm from there

Maxed out? Congratulations you now have a mage which is at the limit of regular skilling, and you've probably done it in under 24 hours.

Can you get a skill higher than 44? Yes, but it requires you to create/imbue stat totems (see Stat Totem Info), which while they are useful are just too time consuming to be used as a throw-away mage levelling item.
