Blade Mistress on Linux - IT WORKS

Postby Eah » Sat Aug 15, 2015 11:14 am

Here is how to get the Blade Mistress Client working for Linux Debian 8.1 and Gnome3
I assume the procedure would be similar in Ubuntu, SuSe, ...
So far I have tested it on a 64-bit Virtual Machine (VMware) only.

1) BM Client Files
I didn't get the BMLauncher up working on Linux.
To be sure to obtain the latest Client files, you basically have two options.
You can either bring up Windows on a virtual machine or ask someone - who is using Windows - to download them.

On Windows, download the BMLauncher from:
downloads/BMLauncher.exe

Execute BMLauncher.exe, tick "Thoth's Server" and click "Update"
This will download the BM Client files into a folder named "Thoth"

Move the Thoth folder to your Linux PC's default user home directory (for example /home/eah/BM/Thoth)

2) installing wine
2.1) Bring up a Terminal with root privileges and use following commands to download and install wine:
Code: Select all
apt-get install wine

If you use a 64-bit machine, also execute the command below:
Code: Select all
dpkg --add-architecture i386 && apt-get update && apt-get install wine32

2.2) Bring up a terminal with user (not root) privileges and enter:

Code: Select all
wine /home/eah/BM/Thoth/BBOnline.exe -W -x -nUser -pPassword -bmonline.servegame.com

Use following Options
    Windowed Mode: -W
    Resolution (Y=640x480 X=600x800 Z= 1024x746): -x/y/z
    Username: -nUSERNAME
    Password: -pPASSWORD
    Server: -bmonline.servegame.com

The first time wine executes, it will ask to install the Wine Mono package - install it.

3) Make shortcut and play
On your Desktop, richt-click and Create Launcher...

Command:
Code: Select all
wine BBOnline.exe -W -x -nUser -pPassword -bmonline.servegame.com

Working Directory:
Code: Select all
/home/eah/BM/Thoth/

However, there are some glitches:
    1) Wine crashes everytime when exiting the game
    2) Graphical Glitches (see pics)
    3) Game Sounds, UI SOunds and Click-t-move Options are enabled by default (solved*)

* Alter the numbers to "60.000000 3 268435443 0 0" inside /Thoth/localSettings.txt

UPDATE

However, there are some glitches:

1) Wine crashes every time when exiting the game
2) Graphical Glitches (see pics)

The mentioned glitches only affect the game while running in a virtual machine.
On a regular Linux PC, there are no graphical bugs.
However, it gets a bit laggy when having up more than 2 clients at a time.

You can also run PocketWiki and Alaster's Amazing Application through wine.

For running Slayer's Geomancy Calculator, Java Runtime Environment is required within wine.
Download the installer for the JRE 1.7.0.17 (32-bit) and run it with wine (newer JRE versions might not work).

Finally, someone has figured out Linux BM'ing. Good job Eah. I might have a crack in the next few weeks, if I can get my head around it lol

I was looking around and found the JAR version of the calculator. This way you won't have to install the JRE on wine, you can run it directly on Linux.
I have tried it with OpenJDK Java 7 Runtime, and it seems to be working properly.

Well, I finally got BM working on my Ubuntu, via Windows thru VMware. Seems quite stable.

Does anyone have a link to the jdk component that is needed for the geo calc?

Thanks in advance
